Couples Therapy
ACA provides short-term and long-term therapy to children adolescents, adults, couples, and families. We are located steps away from Ashmont “T” Station.
We are experienced in treating:
• Anxiety Disorders (panic, phobias, Post Traumatic Stress)
• Depression and Bipolar Disorders
• Difficult school adjustment (ADHD, learning disabilities)
• Couples (communication, managing conflict and building trust)
• Anger management in teens and adults
• Addictions issues
• Family therapy (parenting, family stress, communication)
• Group therapy (anger management, social skills development, building relationships)
At ACA we are highly sensitive to the plight of many in our communities who suffer in silence, shame, and frustration, with the issues of mental health and the negative stigmatization normally associated with these illnesses. We are here to help bring emotional relief and to instill a new sense of hope in a safe and confidential setting.
We strive to create a working relationship thatis comfortable, respectful and empowering. Using science and the art of healing, we seek to activate our clients’ strengths to release their creativity and identify solutions that work for each person.
Doctors Pierre and Tyrell have Caribbean roots, along with lifetime experiences from living and working in both the Caribbean and the United States. These experiences serve as a basis for their ability to handle a diverse clientele. ACA does not discriminate on the basis of national origin, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation.
Treatment Philosophy
Help clients to talk and envision their preferred future(s) without over analyzing the problematic past.
Help clients to tap into their resources and to imagine what’s possible instead of feeling helpless
Help our clients to speak more on the solution than the problem; thus, setting a climate of expectancy for change.
ACA operates from a “wellness model.” We ask, “What is right in the client’s life?,” and seek to expand on that, instead of focusing on what’s wrong.
The mind, body, and spirit are interrelated; change in one area can bring significant relief in other areas.
Our work is completed when our clients accept credit for what they have achieved, and are confident that they have the resources to generate further successes.
ACA provides these services on a fee-for-service basis. Service is also provided on a sliding fee scale; and some insurances are accepted.
Payment by cash or check is due at the time of service, unless other arrangements are made in advance of treatment.
